Salah (Prayer) is the second pillar of Islam and the most important act of worship after believing in Allah.
It connects a Muslim directly with their Creator and brings peace, discipline, and spiritual strength.
Salah is performed five times a day, and every prayer has specific steps. Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide 👇
🌙 Step 1: Intention (Niyyah)
Before starting Salah, make an intention in your heart for which prayer you are performing — for example, Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, or Isha.
You don’t need to say it aloud; it should be from the heart.
🌙 Step 2: Standing (Qiyam)
Stand facing the Qiblah (direction of the Kaaba in Makkah).
Raise your hands to your ears (for men) or shoulders (for women) and say:
“Allahu Akbar” (Allah is the Greatest)
This marks the start of Salah.
🌙 Step 3: Recite Surah Al-Fatihah
Place your right hand over the left hand on your chest.
Recite:
Surah Al-Fatihah (The Opening Chapter of the Quran)
After finishing, say “Ameen.”
🌙 Step 4: Recite Another Surah
Recite any short Surah or verses from the Quran, such as Surah Al-Ikhlas (112).
🌙 Step 5: Ruku (Bowing)
Say “Allahu Akbar” and bow, keeping your back straight and hands on your knees.
Say three times:
“Subhana Rabbiyal Azeem” (Glory be to my Lord, the Most Great)
🌙 Step 6: Standing After Ruku
Stand up straight and say:
“Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah” (Allah hears those who praise Him)
Then say:
“Rabbana wa lakal hamd” (Our Lord, all praise is for You)
🌙 Step 7: Sujood (Prostration)
Say “Allahu Akbar” and go down in Sajdah.
Place your forehead, nose, palms, knees, and toes on the ground.
Say three times:
“Subhana Rabbiyal A’la” (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High)
🌙 Step 8: Sitting Between Sujood
Say “Allahu Akbar” and sit on your legs.
Recite:
“Rabbighfir li, Rabbighfir li” (O my Lord, forgive me, O my Lord, forgive me)
Then perform the second Sujood the same way.
🌙 Step 9: Second Rak’ah
Stand again for the second Rak’ah and repeat steps 3–8.
After the second Sujood, sit for Tashahhud and recite:
“At-tahiyyatu lillahi…” (The sitting prayer)
If it’s a two-rak’ah prayer (like Fajr), end with Salam by turning your head right and left, saying:
“Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah.”
If it’s more than two Rak’ah, stand up for the next one and continue.
🌙 Step 10: Ending Salah
End your Salah with Salam to both sides.
After finishing, raise your hands and make Dua — a personal prayer to Allah.
Conclusion:
Salah purifies the soul, builds discipline, and reminds Muslims of their purpose in life.
Praying regularly strengthens faith and brings peace to the heart. 🌙
